Mindful Communication Workshop
Connect with Clarity and Presence
Monday 20th October, 5 - 8 PM
Wānaka Community Hub
34 McDougall Street,
Wānaka 9305, Neuseeland
Do you long for conversations that feel more genuine, calm, and connected - with yourself and others? Mindful Communication invites you to slow down, listen deeply, and express yourself with honesty and compassion. It’s a practice that helps us understand what truly drives us as humans and builds bridges where there might otherwise be distance. In this interactive 3-hour introductory workshop, you’ll explore the foundations of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) - a simple yet powerful framework for cultivating awareness and empathy in everyday life. Be true. We begin by turning inward. You’ll learn to recognize and name your own feelings and needs - the heart of authentic communication. Being true means connecting with what’s really alive in you, without judgment or pressure to change. We’ll also practice listening with full presence, learning to tune in beyond the spoken words and sense the message underneath - what truly matters to ourselves and to others. Speak kind. Next, we explore how to express ourselves with kindness - to speak to ourselves and others with care and respect. We will learn to name an observation, recognizing where we are at without judgment. Together with naming feelings and needs, we can then consider a strategy or request we might formulate for ourselves or others - creating understanding instead of blame. Connect deep. In the second half, we bring the four core steps of NVC - Observation, Feelings, Needs, and Requests - together. You’ll have the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned to real-life situations, explore challenges in a supportive group setting, and experience how mindful communication fosters empathy, clarity, and connection. Why join This workshop is more than learning a new communication technique - it’s an invitation to live and relate from the heart. You’ll leave with practical tools, deeper self-understanding, and a renewed sense of connection - to yourself, others, and life itself. Who it’s for No prior experience with Nonviolent Communication is needed. Whether you wish to navigate conflict more peacefully, communicate with more ease, or simply understand yourself better, this workshop offers a gentle and empowering place to start.
